Because the drone is fully electric, it reduces the need for ground delivery vehicles and helps decrease traffic congestion and emissions within campus areas. While the initial application focuses on food delivery from restaurants to student locations, the system is being designed as a flexible platform that can later support additional services such as document delivery, library logistics, and emergency supply transport. Through this development, we aim to demonstrate how autonomous drones can transform everyday logistics in modern campus environments.
We are designing the drone to recognize specially marked landing pads of approximately 1 by 1 meter using onboard cameras and computer vision algorithms. Once the drone reaches the delivery location, it identifies the landing marker, aligns itself accurately, and performs a controlled and safe landing. This approach allows us to deploy the system in campuses without the need for large infrastructure or dedicated drone ports, making it practical and scalable.
